Help themselves
Who is an Agent of Positive Change in Liberia? An Agent of Positive Change in Liberia is anyone who embraces the basic principles which Aurora Foundation stands for and joins in the pursuit of a better Liberia by acting upon these basic principles: - 1. We believe that change is inevitable and, with the right intervention, certain kinds of change can be shaped so that they have positive outcomes.
- 2. We believe that the most effective political change in Liberia will evolve through economic empowerment of its people.
- 3. We believe that economic empowerment should encompass a free enterprise model that wholly embraces compassion (caring for one another).
- 4. We believe in compassion that grows out of Christian principles that we strive hard to practice; however, we see God in people of all religions, ethnic backgrounds and races.
- 5. We believe in service to humanity through the promotion of arts, culture and high quality academic and vocational education for all people.
- 6. We believe in respect for and prudent management of our natural resources and conservation of our environment.
- 7. We believe in a strong advocacy for children (including their rights to be "kids") because they are the most vulnerable element of our society and our hope for the future.
- 8. We believe that we must first focus upon how we, as a people, can help ourselves before we ask others for help; thus we try to help others to help themselves.
